Inspiration

I wrote my second book set in the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina.   We always go through the mountains on our way to Mississippi and on a recent trip, I spotted a low cloud amongst the hills.  We stopped just so I could snap the pictures.

Who couldn’t write scenes with this sort of backdrop?  It’s inspirational and compelling to look at.  I wouldn’t be surprised at all, if somewhere along this writing journey of mine, I use these beautiful hills again.   All photos were taken from the very same overlook.  I would snap one and move the camera to get a different angle, but I think all are breathtaking.Image

Beautiful photos. I have been to the Smokies many times. Gatlinburg.

When we go thru here, it’s like some kind of magical pull and I have to stop and stare, no matter how many times I’ve made the trip. I could have stayed in this one spot for hours…many spots in this region are stunning, Gatlinburg, Maggie Valley, Boone, etc. We have an RV and are always looking for an excuse to visit.

No RV, but I have spent somme memorable nigghts with my wife in those little love-nest motels. Just thinking about that makes me ready to jump in the car this weekend.

Anniversry soon. Thinking about dinner and a night in Birmingham. It is about 100 miles away. Two of the best chefs in the country are there: Frank Stitt and Chris Hastings. I’ve done Stitt’s but not the other. Dinner, a bottle of wine and an overnighter. Gatlinburg would be Ruby Tuesday’s, room with a fire, and a six pack of Viagra.
